Volunteering in the lobby will have fluctuating needs. Volunteers are allowed to work on homework during slow times. 

Our Lobby Needs Vary, but may include: 

Ticket Sales: Sell passes and tickets to patrons using an ipad. Being familiar with passes and tickets and the admittance each of these includes. Should be comfortable with handling money and running credit cards. Will be trained in on iPad before shift begins.

Merchandise: Sell merchandise to patrons. Should be comfortable with handling money and running credit cards. Familiarity with the Square point of sales system is helpful but not required. Kara will be available to answer any questions you have.

Coffee Concessions: Sell coffee to patrons. Should be comfortable with handling money. Ensure patrons are aware that food and beverages should be consumed in the Atrium and are not to enter film venues.

Film Voting and Survey Promotion: Assist patrons in voting for their favorite film (People’s Choice Award) through the use of ipads and paper ballots. Walking around the ARC Lobby in between films and promoting patrons to fill out the FRFF survey.

Help clean and stock the WSU Warrior Cupboard.

Winona County 4-H is hosting a free, hands-on project workshop where youth will complete a variety of arts and craft activities. Participants will also learn how they can showcase their projects at the county fair! We're searching for volunteer to assist youth in completing projects!

When: Monday, January 19, 2026 (MLK Day, most Winona County schools are not in session)

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (3-hour session)

Who: All community youth in grades 3–6

Are you interested in history? We have a unique opportunity to improve our newspaper database!  Volunteer to proofread and edit the Winona City Newspaper Database. We provide all training online and answer your questions.  The work involves reviewing PDF files of a newspaper and then checking the translated text and editing the text to correct any errors. This work can be done anywhere with a computer, web browser, and an internet collection.

Winona County 4-H hosts summer day camps throughout the county, and we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make these experiences memorable for youth! Volunteers assist with hands-on projects, prepping supplies, and serving as extra helping hands during camp activities.

Camps run from 9:00 AM–3:30 PM and serve approximately 20 youth in grades K–5.

We are looking for a students to work in the Warrior Cupboard during the spring semester. Weekly stocking, general organization. Schedule is flexible. 2-3 hours per week.

On April 18th, join us in putting on our first trail race of the year, Storm the Park at Whitewater State Park. This event features trail races from a 5k all the way up to 50k. We’re looking for volunteers to help with racer check-in, aid stations, and the finish line, as well as course safety and medical support. You will need your own transportation to the venue as none will be provided.

Help us survey regional municipalities including cities, townships, counties and area businesses, as well as artists and craftspeople, so we can assemble an inventory of people and resources available to help local schools create outdoor classrooms and nature play areas.

Help create and maintain outdoor classroom spaces at elementary schools in the Winona area. Assist a small team of local volunteers with building outdoor activity stations, gathering natural materials, creating pollinator plantings, and maintaining these spaces.

Life Enrichment programs are designed for adults with disabilities seeking connection and engagement. The programs foster meaningful relationships and enhance personal growth through group activities tailored to individual interests. Participants explore lifelong skills, boost confidence, and strengthen social capabilities while actively integrating into their community.

Community Excursions: Assist staff and program participants on community outings-push a wheelchair, offer companionship and conversation, and offer support and assistance. Make it an enjoyable experience for all persons involved.

Friendship: Come visit, tell a story about your travels or workplace, play a game, and socialize.

Games and Clubs: Run a BINGO game, facilitate a book club, coffee club or other shared interests among program participants.

Are you a skilled baker? Gardener? History buff? Teach a class/share information on a topic of your choosing! There is nothing some of those we work with love more than learning, and we will work with you on designing and running a class for those interested.

Looking for individuals who can teach an adaptive dance or yoga class, adapted sport or other movement classes to a group of adults with varying mobility capabilities.

Get involved with the arts and work on painting, woodworking, textiles, art facilitation and more.  Share your musical gifts with us by playing an instrument, or teaching a mini class on instrument instruction, songwriting, music composition or whatever your talents.

Docent volunteers work during museum hours to provide tours to visitors and welcome them to the museum. Hours for these shifts are Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.. Docent volunteers are provided training to familiarize them with the museum exhibits.

Groundskeepers assist with mowing the grass, weeding the garden beds, and keeping the outdoor space around the museum clean and beautified for the general public. These shifts can be flexible, based on the availability of each individual volunteer.

Gift Shop volunteers work during museum hours to assist with gift shop operations, including sales of merchandise. Hours for these shifts are Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.. Gift Shop volunteers are provided training on the point-of-sale system prior to their first shift.

Custodian volunteers help vacuum and sweep the museum when the museum is closed. It takes approximately two hours to vacuum and sweep the museum. Volunteers can come to clean whenever their schedule allows between Sundays and Wednesdays when the museum is closed.

We are in need of people to help set up chairs for events, ticket takers, restack chairs, serve in the coffeehouse, clean up after events.  Of course, you will receive a free ticket to that evening's events.  We also need volunteers for our Free Ink days (4 times a yr) where we are open for families and adults to make cards on our ink press. 

Help introduce local youth to nature through hands-on activities. Training and materials provided through Project Get Outdoors. We will connect you to a local site where you can share your outdoor and nature interests and skills with youth.

Volunteers needed at the IMPACT Center to supervise and interact with children (grades K-12) during nightly after school activities. Volunteers have opportunities to help children with homework, play games, do arts and crafts, distribute snacks, and more. During the school year we are open Monday through Friday from 2:30pm-6pm.
